Rumor has it that Travis took a teaching position at the alternative education center in Wise. The OC job was offered as an incentive to get him into the Wise county system and keep him for a "future" head coach job.
There is something about the color blue.... "POWELL VALLEY BLUE" that is. Way to go Travis. I was always told that the sky was that color Blue because God was a Viking Fan. Any POWELL VALLEY fan knows this was heaven sent...

I see it more like this. I think Travis realizes consolodation is a known fact and will happen very..very shortly. I was looking through our elementry year book from this year and our 6th grade class has only 16 boys with the remaining classes underneath not having much more. Phil will step down after a few more broken records and I really see Travis taking over at what could be a powerhouse if everything is done correctly.
I don't see the kids from Appy going to PV if consolidation happens. Travis Turner is no Tom Turner, the kids will not follow him down the road. The county needs to do what is right for all communities and not just certain ones. What happens in the next year will truly be something to watch. The decision the old WISE ones make will shape our county for the next 50 years. What a scary thought! I hope Travis Turner knows what he is getting himself into. There is no return trip back to Appy he is on a one way road, which is a dead end.
Really, if I was offered a coordinator position at GC and didn't have the same opportunity at PV I'd go. I really don't see how you can fault anybody for trying to better themselves.

How is going to PV a step up for Travis? I forgot the baby blue always think they are better than everyone. Time will tell if this will be better or not. Maybe this will be the best for both programs. Appy will rebuild and will be back. Can the same be said about PV. They have not won anything since Barry Jones left. Maybe they should also be on the look out for a Defense Coach. Just a thought.
How is PV a step up? Really, the only team in this area (football wise) that can compare to PV is Clintwood and besides last year they've been dormant for the past 30 years.

not sure what is meant here...but.... Burton compares pretty well to Powell Valley the last three years. BTW, Burton are the LPD champs unless everybody forgot.
